The Book Tree Press was set up by Lucy Roscoe in 2008. It grew directly out of research into sculptural book works at Edinburgh College of Art. It is a small press producing hand printed limited artist books and paper works for purchase and exhibitions. The manifesto for the press is to explore the concept of a sculptural bookwork inspired by the printed word, and develop publishing and exhibition opportunities for this medium.
As an illustrator Lucy has a particular passion for printing folding and cutting. Over the past year the press has taken the created books out from the studio and into the public domain, introducing sculptural books to people through workshops, galleries and shops. Each project along the journey was inspired by a quote, a poem or a novel, the literature itself driving the design and form of the book created. The press is currently based in the beautiful city of Edinburgh.
